Coverage and excess
Faro Airport (FAO), Portugal
Condition breakdown
Supplier excess cover and marketplace reimbursement cover behave differently at the counter. Only supplier-side cover can reduce the amount the supplier itself blocks.
- Damage deposit
- Reduced or €0 only with the supplier's own full-cover product on a qualifying offer
- Fuel amount / hold
- €70–€250 typical fuel amount depending on tank size and policy
- Toll amount / charge
- €100 Via Verde toll amount, held separately
The €100 Via Verde amount is a separate toll line. It is not the damage deposit and not the fuel amount, and it is settled against actual toll usage.
- Card requirement
- A card is still needed even when full cover is purchased.
- Contractual liability
- Excess reduction limits your financial exposure; it does not remove your contractual responsibility for the vehicle.
What this means in practice
- Marketplace or third-party cover reimburses you after you have already paid the supplier — the collection deposit still applies.
- Check exclusions: tyres, glass, roof, underside, keys and towing are commonly excluded.
- Compare the cost of supplier full cover against the deposit you would otherwise have blocked.
